Our Preschool
Why choose our public preschool?
It is anticipated that our public preschool will be opening in Term 4 2026. It will be a fee-free preschool at Tuggerawong Public School and an easy choice for local families with young children.
We give every child the start in early childhood education. At our preschool, children explore, ask questions and grow in a safe and caring place. Our friendly team helps each child learn and feel good through fun, hands-on play that builds confidence and curiosity.
At this stage, the preschool is still under construction. Once building works are completed later this year and all required certifications are finalised, the preschool will be ready to welcome families for tours and begin the enrolment process. At that time, we will be able to share confirmed opening hours, key information for families, and details about when Expressions of Interest for enrolments will open. Currently, we are not maintaining a waitlist.
We are very excited to welcome our first pre-schoolers and thank our community for their patience as we prepare for a fantastic start!
More information is available on the department’s website (link) Tuggerawong Public Preschool and we look forward to providing further updates as this project progresses.
Preschool days and hours
Our preschool is still in the construction phase. When the preschool is operational, it will be open 6 hours a day, on the same days as all NSW public schools. A preschool child can only be educated and cared for by the preschool during its approved operating hours. There is no additional supervision for preschool children outside of these hours.
Fees
We do not charge fees to attend our preschool. NSW public preschools are funded by the NSW government.
Attendance
Public preschools enrol children for one year only, the year before they start school.
Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age before 31 July that year.
The preschool offers 2 attendance patterns across the week to ensure each child has access to 600 hours of preschool over the year (or 15 hours a week).
If you wish to have your say on the attendance patterns, please fill out our questionnaire (link) Proposed attendance patterns for Tuggerawong Public Preschool – Fill in form
Meals
Children bring their own meals and snacks to preschool. For more information, please contact us.
How to enrol
Unlike NSW public schools, there are no intake areas for public preschools. Enrolment is on application only.
Enrolling in a preschool within a school does not guarantee a place at that school for Kindergarten.
